The Navigation Tool

The Navigation Tool implements a virtual trackball that enables you to view your scene from any direction. The tool has two modes of operation: you can either navigate through the scene as a whole, or manipulate the pose of individual objects. To switch between the modes, click the Navigation Tool button until a pop up menu appears where you can choose between scene () and object navigation (). The virtual trackball allows for rotation and translation in all three spacial axes:

Rotation around the horizontal axis (x-axis): Click the left mouse button and drag the mouse vertically in the center of the rendering window.

Rotation around the vertical axis (y-axis): Click the left mouse button and drag the mouse horizontally in the center of the rendering window.

Rotation around the axis perpendicular to the screen (z-axis): Click the left mouse button and drag the mouse along the border of the rendering window.

Horizontal and vertical translation (translation along x- and y-axes): Click the right mouse button and drag.

Translation perpendicular to the screen (translation along z-axis): Click the middle mouse button and drag.

Note that you can also rotate the scene using the arrow keys. Pressing the control key and the arrow keys translates the scene.
