Research Scientist at
Bernd is currently a research scientist and research group leader at Disney Research Zurich. His research interests include computer graphics and its application in animation, biomechanics, material science, and computational design for digital fabrication. Recent work includes next generation 3D surface scanner devices, performance capture, measuring and modeling the deformation behavior of soft tissue, animation tools, and computational synthesis for 3D printing. Bernd received a M.Sc. in Computer Science in 2006 and spent nine month at Mitsubishi Electric Research Laboratories working with Prof. Hanspeter Pfister. He wrote his PhD thesis at ETH Zurich in the Computer Graphics Lab headed by Prof. Markus Gross (2010, with distinction) followed by a postdoc at Disney Research Zurich and an appointment as visiting professor at TU Berlin (2011-2012).
Bernd is also an initiator of the hybrid plattform, a transdisciplinary project-laboratory and network for boundary pushers and lateral thinkers.
