I have taken a Research Scientist position at Disney Research Zürich.
Our paper on human body capture with cross-modal neural networks has been accepted (spotlight) to CVPR 2017.
Our paper on stochastic point processes has been accepted to Eurographics 2017.
Our paper on cloth capture from images with convolutional neural networks has been accepted to Eurographics 2017.
Our paper on human body shape estimation with convolutional neural networks has been accepted to 3DV 2016.
Our paper on human body shape estimation from videos has been accepted to ECCV 2016.
I will present my paper on integrating functions with stochastic point processes in SIGGRAPH 2016.

Our paper on interactive structure synthesis is accepted to SGP 2015.
My paper on structuring unstructured geometric data will appear in IEEE CG & A, the next 2015 issue.

Research

I am interested in digital processing of geometry and images, and developing intuitive interfaces for authoring them in computers. My field of research is usually called computer graphics/vision or visual computing. I draw algorithms, techniques, mathematics, and inspiration from many other fields such as statistics, applied mathematics, and machine learning. I can roughly group my research into sub-fields as below:

Geometry Processing

Representing, acquiring, synthesizing, editing, augmenting, and utilizing 3D geometry are fundamental tasks in visual computing. I have been working on developing techniques to handle these challenges.


Image & Video Processing

Images and videos constitute the most abundant form of visual data. I am working on fundamental algorithms to understand, analyze, modify, and utilize them.


Stochastic Point Distributions

Many structures such as patterns formed in turbulent fluids, pores in a Swiss cheese, or locations of people in a crowd can be seen as stochastic point distributions. I am working on modeling, analyzing, and synthesizing such distributions.

Animation

Generating moving characters involves deforming their bodies and faces. This requires easy-to-use tools and efficient methods for deforming and interpolating geometry in time. I have been developing such tools for character animation.

Sketch-based Interfaces

Sketching with paper and pencil is still the most intuitive way of creating visual content. I am interested in methods to develop such simple and intuitive interfaces for computers.


Rendering

Most of the time, the end result of algorithms in graphics (e.g. movies) are rendered, i.e. converted to colors displayable on screens. I am working on ways to simulate complex material-light interaction effects efficiently.
